Volunteer Cook in Charge - HVC 1837

St John & St Matthew church

The 'Wild Goose' was originally started to provide people with a much needed place to meet their friends for coffee or to make new friends ! Since then, we have grown and are now able to provide coffee, tea, breakfast snacks and delicious home-made soup and sandwiches to the local community.

We are looking for a volunteer Cook in Charge for our charity run cafe.

As a Cook in Charge your weekly tasks would include:

  • Check food is in date and prepped ready - bread and fillings
  • Bake ready made sausage rolls
  • Make cakes during quiet periods for the following week
  • Date and Freeze unused food at the end of each session
  • Make a list of food required for next session
  • Oversee/train assistant to make fresh filter coffee
  • Turn on water heater
  • Display cakes
  • Make freshly prepared soup - winter months only

What skills do I need?

You will require previous experience in a kitchen or cafe environment and a basic understanding of food safety and hygiene .

An NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking or equivalent, along with a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, are also desirable.
