Treasurer - HVC 2071

Wellgate Community Farm

Wellgate Community Farm is a small community farm in Collier Row, Romford and we are seeking a committed and capable Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. This is a vital voluntary role supporting a much‑loved community charity that provides animal care, education, wellbeing activities, and volunteering opportunities for local people.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide financial oversight and ensure our finances are well‑managed
  • Lead budgeting and financial planning
  • Present clear financial reports to the Board
  • Ensure compliance with charity financial regulations
  • Support fundraising and grant applications
  • Work collaboratively with staff and trustees

In common with other trustees:

  • Attend meetings reliably and read papers in advance
  • Understand numerical and written information in reports and proposals
  • Analyse information objectively in the charity’s best interests
  • Ask questions and challenge constructively
  • Act collaboratively and support collective decision‑making

Time Commitment for this role: - Around 4–6hours per month, including 8-10 trustee meetings per annum. Please note that while this is the expected time commitment, the role may require additional hours depending on the workload and activities planned.

What skills do I need?

  • Financial literacy
  • Qualified accountant/bookeeper desirable (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, etc.)
  • Attention to detail
  • Integrity and reliability
  • Clear communication skills
  • Commitment to the charity’s mission
