Become a Trustee at Havering Volunteer Centre – Help Shape Volunteering in Our Community!

The Treasurer role is a key member of our Board, responsible for overseeing the financial health, sustainability and integrity of Havering Volunteer Centre. Working closely with the CEO and Bookkeeper, you will ensure we meet our legal and financial responsibilities and that our finances support our long-term strategy.

The key responsibilities of a HVC Treasurer are to: 

Lead on the Board’s responsibility for financial governance.

Ensure accurate financial records are maintained in line with charity law and good practice.

Monitor financial performance and present clear, accessible updates to the Board.

Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, management accounts and cashflow forecasts.

Ensure annual accounts are prepared correctly and submitted on time to the Charity Commission and relevant bodies.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for a treasurer with:

Experience in finance, accountancy, budgeting or similar fields.

Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Understanding of (or willingness to learn) charity financial management and legal requirements.

Commitment to the values and goals of Havering Volunteer Centre.

Our Trustees typically attend bi-monthly Board meetings, occasional meetings with the CEO or Bookkeeper, with occasional involvement in working groups or events.
