Havering Global Orchestra Project
The Havering Global Orchestra brings together local residents, refugees, and newly arrived community members through inclusive, high-quality music-making.
We aim to foster connection, well-being, and cultural integration across Havering.
Rehearsals take place on Friday evenings in Romford, with 2–3 public performances planned over the coming year.
We are currently seeking volunteers to:
• Play alongside participants (all instruments welcome!)
• Support rehearsals through light admin work — attendance, feedback, room setup, sheet music organisation, and refreshments
• Take on musical leadership opportunities for those interested in developing community music skills
This is a great opportunity for musicians of all levels to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, teamwork, and inclusive music practice - while helping to foster an inclusive culture of music for everyone in Havering and beyond, across London.
We are hoping volunteers will be able to dedicate their Friday evenings (5:30 - 7:30pm) for at least a term of rehearsals, but we are open to hearing from volunteers who may not be able to commit to regular attendance, but would still like to take support the project.
- Musical instrument skills preferred
- Target language/cultural knowledge desirable
(target languages: English, Arabic, Kurdish (Sorani), Urdu, Pashto, Persian, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Dari)
