Family Coach (HVC - 1983)

LBH Early Help Service

The London Borough of Havering Early Help Service is re-launching the Family Coach Team. The Team supports Havering families to achieve their goals, sustain positive progress, respond to family members’ needs and maintain independence from targeted services.

The Early Help Service is looking for volunteers who are passionate about supporting children, young people and families, and can communicate effectively and confidently.

Due to the nature of the role, volunteers will need to take part in background checks (including a Disclosure & Barring Service enhanced check), attend a training course, and offer their commitment to a family for at least six months

This role includes:

    • Committing to 6 months of supporting a family
    • Carrying out weekly home visits to a family, lasting one to two hours
    • Working with a family to form a support plan to best meet their needs

Acting in the best interests of a child, young person or family member

What skills do I need?

  • -        Confident and able to communicate well with children and adults from a range of different backgrounds

  • -        Can engage with staff and partners to promote the aims and quality of the Early Help Service, and comply with relevant policies and procedures

  • -        Commitment to act in the best interests of children, young people and families, and comply with jointly-agreed plans

  • -        Experience of working with children or young people, in any capacity

Willing to undertake training where necessary

We do not ask that volunteers have any qualifications. However, we do ask for any experience with children, young people or families in any capacity and a commitment to provide the best service for families in Havering.
