Chess Club Volunteer (HVC-2008)

Do you have good communication skills ?  Are you enthusiasc and enjoy interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds ? 

Then why not join our volunteering team at Havering Libraries ? 

As a Chess Club Volunteer you will work in partnership with Library staff to deliver Chess Clubs in Libraries for both Adults and Children across Havering.

The main tasks of a Chess Club Volunteer are:

  • Liaising with the Library Manager concerning Chess Clubs
  • Setting up and clearing away the area or room used in the Library
  • Recording Attendance
  • Help to promote Chess Clubs

What skills do I need?


  • Good Communication and listening skills
  • Experience of working with young people and a knowledge of Chess are an advantage, but not essential
  • Enthusiasm
  • Confident and happy to get involved with people of all ages and background
  • Flexible and able to volunteer on a regular basis
  • Ability to volunteer without supervision
  • Reliable and responsible
