St Georges Health & Wellbeing Hub
We are looking for a kind and gentle volunteer with lots of patience and understanding to join the volunteer team in the Ageing Well Centre at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch. The Ageing Well Centre is designed to welcome patients who are prone to slips, trips and falls that can be assessed and treated when no prolonged or overnight care is needed. It's a really lovely section of the hub and supports patients to be treated swiftly rather than being sent to A&E.
The role will consist of:
- chatting to patients
- helping them to feel at ease
-making the patient a beverage, such as a hot drink when the nursing staff agree it is safe to do so
- assisting with meal times, such as providing sandwiches when the nursing staff agree it is safe to do so
-chaperoning them to the Diagnostic Centre to keep them company while they wait for their treatment.
This role falls under the hospitality and befriending section, so if you love to chat, can make people feel at ease and make a mean brew then we would love to hear from you.
The right volunteer for this role will be kind, gentle and patient with the ability to follow processes and direction to the letter.
The ability to carry out light cleaning and tidying duties of the refreshment station is also required.
There will be no pushing of wheelchairs in relation to this role but volunteers will need to be able to walk around the building and Ageing Well Centre comfortably and confidently.
