Access needs/Support and Disability Volunteer - HVC 2025

Can you help make Shrek the Musical on Ice an inclusive and welcoming experience for everyone ?   This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about inclusion, community support, or gaining experience in accessible events.

This rewarding role focuses on supporting audience members and participants with access needs, ensuring they can fully enjoy and engage with the event. As an Access Needs Support & Disability Volunteer, you will provide friendly, respectful, and practical assistance to those who may require additional support.

This may include guiding individuals to accessible seating, offering clear information, assisting with entry and movement around the venue, and helping to create a safe, comfortable, and inclusive environment for all.

Performances take place between 3rd - 5th July 2026

Volunteers are essential in ensuring the event is accessible and enjoyable for everyone, helping to remove barriers and provide a positive experience for all attendees. This is a one-off opportunity, with a minimum commitment of one full day. However, availability across all three days is strongly preferred to provide consistent support throughout the event.                                                                                                                    

What skills do I need?

We are looking for compassionate, patient, and reliable individuals who are committed to inclusion and supporting others. No formal qualifications are required, but the following skills and qualities are preferred:

• Friendly, approachable, and empathetic manner

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Confidence supporting a diverse range of people with different needs

• Ability to remain calm and attentive in a busy environment

• Awareness of accessibility needs (experience is beneficial but not essential)

• Willingness to listen, adapt, and provide respectful assistance

• Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude Experience working with people with disabilities, in care, education, or customer facing roles is beneficial but not essential—training and guidance can be provided.
